Through the lens of Abdul’s enduring relationship with his first mentor, Peter, the story reveals how Rainier Athletes provided the consistent "push" needed to unlock the creative and leadership qualities that were previously stuck inside. Ultimately, Abdul’s story serves as a powerful testament to the impact of long-term mentorship, proving that with the right community behind them, young people can fully realize their own potential and identity.

Lupe’s Story

This fundraising film follows Lupe, a first-generation Mexican American student and junior at Seattle Pacific University. Having been part of Rainier Athletes since the fifth grade, her narrative provides a long-term look at the program’s impact as she now pursues a career in apparel design. The story highlights how RA’s focus on "identity statements" helped Lupe navigate the complexities of growing up in Bellevue, giving her the confidence to move beyond the status quo and "Defy Gravity" within the fashion industry. By framing her success through her own metaphor, that RA is like an athleisure brand where you can be "comfortable in your own skin".

10th Anniversary Video

Produced to commemorate a decade of impact, this film reflects on the evolution of Rainier Athletes from a nascent sports scholarship idea into a "unity project" that redefines the traditional mentorship model. Moving beyond a prescriptive program, the narrative highlights an eight-year commitment to each student that bridges the gaps in the public school system.
