Resilience Is So Gay: Reclaiming the Narrative
Born from the provocative intersection of art and identity, this high impact, 60-second piece explores the creative process behind Lifelong’s "Resilience Is So Gay" collaboration with local artist, Joseph John Sanchez III. The narrative follows the design process behind a commemorative T-shirt, exploring how language can be reclaimed to celebrate the inherent strength and history of the LGBTQ+ community. By highlighting key concepts like "celebration," "change," and "strength," the artist reflects on an evolving perspective of Pride—moving from personal reflection toward a broader commitment to community contribution. Ultimately, the piece serves as a visual anthem for the resilience found within the community, offering a reminder that identity is not just a source of pride, but a profound catalyst for collective power.
“About Us” Brand Video
This brand video explores the 35-year legacy of Lifelong, a community health organization born from a grassroots movement to ensure no one faces illness or injustice alone. The video traces the organization's evolution from a group of volunteers caring for neighbors into a robust, person-centered model that addresses the intersection of health challenges and systemic marginalization. By highlighting the essential work of volunteers who handle everything from meal preparation to home deliveries, the video showcases how personal connection serves as a bridge for homebound individuals in our community. Ultimately, the film emphasizes that true health equity requires more than just medical care; it demands a community wide devotion to removing barriers and providing a foundation where everyone has the opportunity to thrive.
Lifelong’s Pandemic Response
This video documents Lifelong’s dramatic shift during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the organization scaled its "Chicken Soup Brigade" from 5,000 to over 10,000 meals delivered weekly. The narrative is anchored by James, a dedicated volunteer whose personal commitment to his Auburn delivery route represents the "lifeblood" of the community response. By centering on James’s journey—from his Superman inspired philosophy to his devotion to those "on the brink", the video showcases how Lifelong adapted its model of medically tailored nutrition to meet a skyrocketing need. More than a record of a crisis, this story captures how a surge of volunteerism helped bridge the gap between chronic illness and essential care during a period of unprecedented health inequity.
