Melvin’s Story

Runtime | 6:53

This gala fundrasing film follows the journey of Melvin, a resident and staff member at Compass Housing Alliance who transitioned from years of housing instability and addiction into a life of permanent security. The narrative centers on the idea that stability begins with identity, highlighting how essential services like the Mail and Hygiene Centers can provide a foundation for a new life. Melvin acts as a bridge to recovery in the film, demonstrating how his lived experience as a former participant helps others within the Compass community reclaim their place in the world with “confidence and light”.

Eli & Jackie

These two love birds have called the Renton Veterans Center home for over ten years, and their story is a powerful example of what happens when a family finally gets the chance to stabilize. The film moves through the reality of their daily lives—from the logistical hurdle of Jackie managing at-home dialysis to the pride of seeing their children, Myraven and Sonny, now serving and teaching across the globe.
